175 people were detained in London during a protest against the ban on a pro-Palestinian group.

A major protest against the ban on Palestine Action is taking place in London, with posters mentioning the group leading to widespread arrests.

A protest against the ban on the Palestine Action group gathered on the afternoon of October 4 in London’s Trafalgar Square and in Manchester, despite calls from authorities to refrain from protesting in the wake of the terrorist attack near a Manchester synagogue.

The group, it should be recalled, distinguished itself by damaging aircraft at a military airbase, which became the main reason for its ban.

London police reported that 175 people had been arrested.

Police spokesman Graham Wetton said the protest was generally peaceful, but many participants were being treated as offenders simply for carrying a banner mentioning Palestine Action, as any display of support for it has been illegal since its ban.

Six people were arrested for unfurling a banner on Westminster Bridge.

The Manchester protest has already concluded, and no arrests have been reported. Participants marched through the city carrying signs reading “Stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza.” A small counterprotest gathered nearby.

It’s worth noting that pro-Palestinian demonstrations have been taking place in many European cities in recent days. The latest wave of protests was triggered by Israel’s detention of vessels from the so-called humanitarian “flotilla” in the Gaza Strip.
